Here’s a fun one – it’s centered on just one couple! It was blessedly quick and easy, but not without its own mysteries. The next family tree I made for The Black Dagger Brotherhood book series by J.R. Ward was for what some consider the odd couple – Assail and Sola.
This family tree includes the bloodlines and known relatives/descendants of:
Assail, Sola, Vovô, Ehric, Evale, Markcus
This one is so small that you might not even have to click to enlarge! What a world.
General Notes:
- Markcus’s relatives are a mystery, so he’s probably related to somebody important in some exciting and surprising way we don’t know of yet.
- Assail I is considered to be “one of the greatest Brothers there had ever been”.
- We know that Assail II’s mahmen was a Fallen Chosen. She and Assail I I begot Assail II, and an unnamed second son. Both Assail II and his brother would have been eligible for the Brotherhood, because their father was a Brother and their mahmen was a Chosen. Where is this brother? But “his fallen Chosen mother had forced another path upon him”. (Selling drugs, apparently?)
- Assail II’s mahmen also had a daughter by an unknown male vampire, which gives Assail II and his brother a half sister. Where is she?
- I have wondered if Assail I was the unnamed Brother that Madalina (Bella and Rehv’s mahmen) fell in love with, before she was kidnapped and raped by the Sympath King. That Brother could be any of the already named original Brothers, or another one that we haven’t met yet. The top contenders are: Assail I, Murhder I, Night, and Throe I.
- I’m ready to make some romantic connections for Ehric and Evale! At her live event, Ward asked readers if they would like the twins to share one love interest, since they’re so comfortable sharing in the bedroom. I personally prefer them each to have their own HEA, but hey, who am I to judge a polyamorous relationship? You do you, boys, you do you.
- It’s pretty clear that Vovô now considers all the boys to be her family now – as long as they keep eating her meals, and don’t offend her by trying to clean up. This might be my favorite little family unit in the entire series!
