Corina is coming back at it again with another family tree chart for The Black Dagger Brotherhood book series by J.R. Ward. This one is smaller than the first, since it doesn’t include the history of the entire royal family. We do have some Sympaths in the mix, though, so it’s a decent sized tree. It includes the bloodlines and known relatives/descendants of:
Phury, Cormia, Zsadist, Bella, Rehvenge, and Ehlena

General Notes:
- Phury and Zsadist’s color is listed as green, and all of The Chosen are said to share gold as their bloodline color. Bella and Rehvenge’s color is purple, via their father/adopted father, Rempoon.
- I have always been very curious about the unnamed Brother that Madalina fell in love with, before she was kidnapped and raped by the Sympath King. That Brother could be any of the already named original Brothers, or another one that we haven’t met yet. The top contenders are: Assail I, Murhder I, Night, and Throe I.
- Assail I is a particularly interesting option – he is considered to be “one of the greatest Brothers there had ever been”.
- We know that Assail II’s mahmen was a Fallen Chosen. She and Assail I I begot Assail II, and an unnamed second son. Both Assail II and his brother would have been eligible for the Brotherhood, because their father was a Brother and their mahmen was a Chosen. But “his fallen Chosen mother had forced another path upon him”. (Selling drugs, apparently?)
- Assail II’s mahmen also had a daughter by an unknown male vampire, which gives Assail II and his brother a half sister.
- For a while I really thought that Assail I was Madalina’s love interest, and the “half sister of some ill repute?” was Bella. But Rehvenge doesn’t fit in well with that unless some details are off, so it’s not likely.
- Currently, all we know about Throe I is that he was a Brother, and he had Throe with a glymera vampire female. That’s why Throe II was never eligible for the Brotherhood in the past…and now he’s like a captured skinless soul trapped in hell, so I don’t think they’re going to be making any exceptions for him.
- We don’t know much of anything about Murhder I or Night, so they are still real possibilities! Some day I will solve this mystery, you just wait…
