I feel so rich having all of these books on tap! But I’m having a tough time deciding between them, especially since they cover quite a few genres. If you’ve read any of these, or have suggestions on where to start, I’d love to hear your feedback. The titles in order are:
Your Marketing Sucks, by Mark Stevens
Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office, by Lois P Frankel, PhD
Ten Days in the Hills, by Jane Smiley
How to Save Your Own Life, by Erica Jong
Wanda Hickey’s Night of Golden Memories, by Jean Shepherd
Pinball, by Jerzy Kosinki
Gentlemen and Players, by Joanne Harris
Dreamland, by Kevin Baker
Thunderstruck, by Erik Larson
The 19th Wife, by David Ebershoff
The Tenderness of Wolves, by Stef Penney
Playing with Boys, by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez
The Stones of Summer, by Dow Mossman
Blonde, by Joyce Carol Oates
Wow I haven’t read ANY of these but I say Joyce Carol Oates because she’s pretty awesome
I think that’s the one I’ve had the longest, so I might just start there. I really loved Prodigal Summer but the Poisonwood Bible frustrated me…hmm what else of hers have I read? I think We Were the Mulvaneys was her also?
Barbara Kingsolver wrote Poisonwood Bible, not Joyce :) I know because it’s in MY pile of books to read and I bought it because I loved The Lacuna
Oh duh you’re right, I always get those 3 name authors confused. It’s like all those poets with 3 names…I never remember which is which.
Also in my head her name is apparently Barbara Kings Oliver, thus my further confusion. I’m going to stop trying to think for the day :)
